INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

1

Step1.png

Determine the desired soundpost length for your instrument. As usual, either take out and measure the existing soundpost or use a soundpost ruler.

2

Step2.png

Bring the thread of your VOICEUP to a neutral middle position to allow later length adjustments (twist out approx. 1-3mm at will).

3

Step3.png

Measure VOICEUP and determine the length difference.

4

Step4.png

Remove the complete foot part from the carbon tube. Please DO NOT separate the wooden feet from the black joint!

5

Step5.png

Saw the carbon tube by the previously determined difference length.¹

6

Step6.png

Deburr the sawn edge with a fine sandpaper.

7

Step7.png

Apply a small amount of Super Glue to the sawed edge.

8

Step8.png

Reconnect the base to the carbon tube – your VOICEUP is now ready to install.

9

Step9.png

Hang VOICEUP with the upper hole into the installation tool².

10

Step10.png

Insert VOICEUP through the F-hole of your instrument like a conventional soundpost. If the F-shaft is too narrow, insert VOICEUP with the top end forward through the circular hole and pick it up inside with the tool.

11

Step11.png

Position VOICEUP like a traditional soundpost³. It is recommended to position VOICEUP on the top first and place it straight at the back using a soundpost setter.

With the help of the adjustment tool², the length of VOICEUP
can be changed at any time, even under tension:

12

Step12.png

To do this, first lock VOICEUP against twisting with the installation tool, either in the mounting hole (top) or in the more easily accessible locking hole. Then release the counter nut with the adjustment tool.

13

Step13.png

Now you can activate the adjusting screw to change the length of your VOICEUP at will.

14

Step14.png

After adjusting, please do not forget to tighten the counter nut again in order to avoid both unintentional self-adjustment and side noise.

¹ In principle, all types of saws that can be used to make fine cuts are considered as a tool. Cutting discs, such as those available at Dremel, are particularly recommended. Saws with sharp toothing such as Japanese saws are not suitable. Attention! Carbon is a highly abrasive material, which means that wood and metal saws can lose their sharpness after just a few cuts. Please wear breathing protection when working with carbon.

² Available separately

³ Please note that for a sound result comparable to that of a conventional soundpost, VOICEUP must be positioned half of its width closer to the bridge. Detailed explanations on positioning and sound adjustment can be found on our website.
